Success in life is being true to yourself

Ever ask “Am I a success in life?

I don’t think it matters if you’re young or old – or any age in between – there is always a tantalizing twinge of doubt around the edges of the question, “Am I a success in life?”. Sometimes you think you’re “there” and then it slips away. Other times the path seems clear … and then you get distracted by another path!

There are certainly myriad definitions and more than enough people around to offer their particular spin on what a successful life should look like. Are they REALLY experts? They seem to know THE way to achieve it too! Just buy this book, subscribe to that video series, or take their course … sound familiar?

So …. I asked myself these questions. How do I decide where I want success in life? What is most important and how DO I achieve it? Whose input do I value? Whose expertise and advice can I count on? The possibilities are so endless, that finding the perfect answer – the one that quiets the doubt and settles the soul – seems remote, if not impossible.

Or is it?

Like many people, I meandered through that mental labyrinth of “Am I successful?” conversations all throughout a successful 35-year teaching career. I knew I was successful in that one aspect of my life yet, I was still eager to learn more – about the “whole” of life.

The conclusions I reached never seemed to be a perfect fit though. (Rather like that trendy piece of clothing that looked much better on the rack than on me!) I read lots of books, watched a few videos, and took a course or two.

Each step helped me realize who the most influential and capable person REALLY was who could lead me to MY success in my PERFECT life. And it was not who I was expecting!

It was ME!

Every step was like a clue to the next step. I did learn things about myself and my purpose in life along the way. I developed a more positive mental attitude and cultivated some skills that only came from being true to myself. It’s been amazing. And the journey still continues.

Have you been thinking about your OWN success in life? What it might look like? Why you aren’t there yet? What YOU would like it to be? Be curious. Ask questions. Explore options. Listen to your inner self – it will guide you to your next best step. I recommend it!

Your Future Self will definitely thank you! Mine has. 🙂
