No Opinions? Whaaat?
How can having no opinions be a positive thing? Have you ever tried it? The exercise of “no opinions” was the assignment within the community in the Master Key Experience this week. The goal … to maintain (for as long a time frame as possible) an attitude of “no opinions”. Just the task of identifying all the opinions I have in a day sounded like a daunting task. It gave new meaning to being a vigilant observer of my own thoughts. Wow! Yet, within the MKE, every new task we implement helps us perfect the conscientious use of our thoughts to create the lives WE want. So – as for those opinions? …
Don’t offer them.
Don’t solicit them.
Don’t speak them.
Don’t even THINK them!
Unless I’m a certified world expert on the topic of discussion (and I’ve been asked for my opinion), I keep my opinions to myself. OH WAIT! My goal is not to even HAVE those opinions in the first place! Being a guide to members in the course makes this exercise challenging in that, they ARE asking my input … so I try to model the exercise for them. Talk about the art of choosing words wisely!
Every day is a work in progress. And, it’s all good.
“That a man can change himself, improve himself, re-create himself, control his environment, and master his own destiny is the conclusion of every mind who is wide-awake to the power of right thought in constructive action.” Larsen
Thanks for stopping by. If you decide to try the “no opinions” exercise yourself – I’d love to know your reaction!
Peace be your journey this week.
