Week 23: It takes less effort …

The “formal”, structured part of our Master Key Experience is nearly completed, and yet we continue to add layers of learning! Now, if this were the old days of “school” – I’d be cringing at the thought of newness at week 23 of 26! This, however, is very different.

miraclesOne of the most pleasantly remarkable realizations for me this week was that this newest layer was tissue light because it just melted into what I have already been creating in myself over the time of this course.

How so? A combination of carefully crafted compound progressions by our mentors and guides – AND – by the personal “hard mental labor” committed to on a daily basis.

chopra quote

This week’s newest layer: Chopra’s “The Law of Least Effort” – 3  components, written on index cards, to add to my growing stack which I flash through several times a day. THESE 3 though, I’ve written out again, and have tucked into the visor in my car. At red lights – and other pauses – I read through them to burn them into my subconscious. Why? They are brilliant!

acceptance

ACCEPTANCE – “I will practice Acceptance. Today I will accept people, situations, circumstances, and events as they occur. I will know that this moment is as it should be, because the whole universe is as it should be. I will not struggle against the whole universe by struggling against this moment. My acceptance is total and complete. I accept things as they are in this moment, not as I wish they were.”

What weight this takes off my shoulders – I don’t have to fight the universe! I stay in the flow.

responsibilityRESPONSIBILITY – “Having accepted things as they are, I will take Responsibility for my situation and for all those events I see as problems. I know that taking responsibility means not blaming anyone of anything for my situation (and this includes myself). I also know that every problem is an opportunity in disguise, and this alertness to opportunities allows me to take this moment and transform it into a  greater benefit.”

I have “response – ability”! I can choose. I stay alert and I observe. I change the way I look at things and – voila! – the things I look at change!

center of being

DEFENSELESSNESS – “Today my awareness will remain established in Defenselessness. I will relinquish the need to defend my point of view. I will feel no need to convince or persuade others to accept my point of  view. I will remain open to all points of view and not be rigidly attached to any one of them.”

How much energy have I been expending over the years thinking I needed to “make my point”? What a relief to not have to do THAT anymore.

This paragraph from Emerson’s essay on Self-Reliance continues to strike a chord with me this week as well:

“What I must do is all that concerns me, not what the people think. This rule, equally arduous in actual and in intellectual life, may serve for the whole distinction between greatness and meanness. It is the harder, because you will always find those who think they know what is your duty better than you know it. It is easy in the world to live after the world’s opinion; it is easy in solitude to live after our own; but, the great man is he who in the midst of the crowd keeps with perfect sweetness the independence of solitude.”

peace insideI am learning to do things “with a happy knack”! … until next week, peace …
