that certain things from your past, whether they be objects, aromas, sounds, people, or events, can flood you with memories as well as thoughts of the future simultaneously?
One of my favorites is new crayons – the quintessential fragrance of childhood.
Something triggers an immediate reaction in me just by cracking open a box of new crayons. Memories of pictures already drawn and ideas for new things to create. What pathways are activated in my subconscious that collaborate to both remind and inspire me? It feels like magic.
Why? I think it has to do with the incredible machinery of our subconscious minds. So much is stored there that only appears when triggered.

Og Mandino calls it, “the mysterious source that never sleeps, which creates my dreams, and often makes me act in ways I do not comprehend.” (Scroll II – The Greatest Salesman in the World)
Charles Haanel, in Part 2 of the Master Keys, says “… the subconscious is the theatre of the most important mental phenomena.” (3)
I have studied these authors for years and each time I revisit them, I learn something new about myself. So, I also spend time working on my subconscious… my “world within”. Why?
Haanel puts it this way in Part I (8): “The world without is a reflection of the world within. What appears without is what has been found in the world within. In the world within may be found Infinite Wisdom, Infinite Power, Infinite Supply of all that is necessary, waiting for unfoldment, development and expression. If we recognize these potentialities in the world within they will take form in the world without.”
Sometimes our inner triggers are positive (like the crayons). Sometimes it’s just the opposite. Yet each has an impact on the world we see and live in every day.
Wishing your outer world was different? There’s a way to change it. Whatever we discover, improve, or release in our “world within” has only a positive effect on our “world without”.

Enjoy your journey … both within and without!
